Dear Neighbor,
District 48 deserves real conservative leadership in Columbus, and I’m asking for your vote.
Who I am: I’m Dr. Ed Lohnes – a proud conservative, small-town small business owner, and an Alliance City Councilman. My wife Amy and I have been married for 31 years, and together we’ve raised four children right here in Stark County. Our family has been built on the values that make our community strong: faith, family, freedom and personal responsibility, and hard work.
As a business owner, I know firsthand what it takes to meet payroll, balance a budget, and make the tough decisions – the opposite of what we see from politicians who spend recklessly and stick taxpayers with the bill. As an Alliance City councilman, I’ve spent 5 years listening to constituents, fixing real problems, and holding government accountable. I’ve always led with integrity and honesty, never bending to political pressure or insider influence.
Why I’m Running Differently
I’m not beholden to lobbyists or special interests – only to you. That’s why I’m self-financing my primary campaign. Big money and special interests have hijacked our politics, and I refuse to take their contributions so I can answer only to you. District 48 deserves a representative who puts people over profits and votes with conscience, not a contributor list.
My Conservative Priorities for District 48
Property Tax relief for Seniors – Seniors shouldn’t be taxed out of the homes they worked their entire lives to pay for. I will fight to fully reduce property taxes for homeowners 65 and older and work to reduce the burden on everyone else.
Cut taxes & Shrink Government – Families and small businesses are being crushed by rising costs. I will oppose every tax increase, slash government waste, and demand fiscal responsibility in Columbus.
Defend Parental Rights & School Choice – Educational decisions should balance parental values, student needs, and evidence-based teaching practices. I support school choice, strong core academics, career tech training, and keeping political agendas out of the classroom.
Stand with Law Enforcement – I will back the blue, strengthen penalties on violent offenders, and ensure our communities remain safe and law-abiding.
Protect Our Constitutional Rights – From the Second Amendment to religious liberty, I will fight back against government overreach and defend every Ohioan’s fundamental rights.
Defend the Right to Life – I believe life begins at conception and will always fight to protect the unborn.
Support Ohio Manufacturing & Skilled Trades – I’m putting working families first. With over 30,000 manufacturing workers in greater Stark County, I’ll fight to grow jobs, expand vocational training, and keep our industries strong right here at home.

District 48 needs a proven conservative leader who won’t back down. I’m ready to fight for our values, our families, our workers, our seniors, and our future.
